ABOUT OUR CHURCH

Maula Cathedral Parish is the seat of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe. Maula Cathedral Parish has seven Small Christian Communities that congregate every Sunday for the Sunday services.

YOUTH MINISTRY

The Youth take part in Spiritual activities like retreats and spiritual recollections. They are also involved in many outreach events that help to reach out to those in-need

SERVICES

Our Masses are conducted in English, Chichewa and Latin (1st Sunday of each month at 11:30am) alongside an excellent English and Chichewa choirs. For a detailed schedule of masses, please click here

NEXT EVENTS
August

Bible Session

(22 August 2026)

  • Purpose: Preparation for Bible Month celebrations in September.

  • Facilitator: Fr. Francisco Bisayi.

  • Participants: Lectors, members of Bungwe la Owerenga, those who take readings in Church, and all lay faithful.

Marriage Preparation Classes

  • The second pre-marital classes began on 30 July 2026.

  • Couples planning to have their weddings officiated between September and November 2026 are encouraged to register with the Parish Office as soon as possible.

Endowment Fund Contributions

  • The Archdiocese of Lilongwe has established an Endowment Fund.

  • Each church member is requested to contribute a minimum of MK1,000.

  • Maula Parish has not yet met its target; only two Small Christian Communities have started contributing.

  • Parish target: MK3,000,000.

  • Chichewa Community target: MK1,500,000.

  • Target per Mphakati: MK215,000.

  • St. John Paul II Community target: MK1,500,000, distributed as follows:

    • West Africa: MK600,000.

    • East Africa: MK200,000.

    • Central Africa: MK200,000.

    • Francophone: MK200,000.

    • Asians: MK300,000.

In the Spirit of active participation in liturgy, the leaders of next week in liturgy - The Twentyth Sunday in Ordinary time - will be the East African Community.

We are simply known as a Cathedral of Lilongwe, which is the Capital City of Malawi. We belong to the metropolitan Archdiocese of Lilongwe whose safragan dioceses are Dedza, Mzuzu and Karonga. We follow the Roman or Latin rite.
