The Parishioners of our Lady of Africa Maula Cathedral in the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe have been emphasized on the importance of proper liturgical formation in promoting active and meaningful participation in the Church’s worship.
Fr John Kaliwamba made the emphasis on Saturday at Maula Parish during a choir and liturgy orientation.
Fr Kaliwamba described the session as crucial as the Catholic Church believes that God’s graces are present whenever the faithful gather for liturgical worship.

Fr Kaliwamba explained that believers can only fully benefit from the liturgy when they understand what is expected of them during the celebration.
He added that the training aimed to help participants become more aware of their roles so that they can participate fully, actively, and consciously in the liturgy, in line with the teachings of the Church’s Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, Sacrosanctum Concilium.
Maula Parish Liturgy Chairperson, Mr. Peter Chando welcomed the orientation, saying it was necessary for Maula Cathedral because the parish brings together people from different places and cultural backgrounds.

Mr. Chando said the training would help harmonize liturgical practices so that the cathedral follows the same standards observed in other parishes within the Archdiocese.
In her remarks, Chairperson for Our Lady of Africa - Maula Cathedral, Mrs. Dorica Chirwa also described the workshop as enlightening for parishioners, particularly those involved in liturgical leadership and choir ministry.

Chirwa expressed hope that the training would promote discipline, order, and proper conduct during liturgical celebrations and help parishioners participate more consciously in worship, as the mother church in the Archdiocese of the Lilongwe.
On the other hand, the Catholic Women Association chairlady for the parish, Mrs. Rose Chimbaza thanked the parish for organizing such event saying it will really them to also teach others as the association is very vibrant in the church.
