Parishioners at Our Lady of Africa – Maula Cathedral today gathered for a Thanksgiving Mass celebrating Fr. Anselme's 5th Priesthood Anniversary and his birthday.
The Mass, held in the morning, marked the first of two celebrations planned for the occasion.

In his homily, Fr. Anselme emphasized humility in prayer and the importance of gratitude, reminding the faithful that while it is good to ask from God, it is equally important to give thanks. He noted that many people turn to God in times of need but often forget to return in thanksgiving after receiving blessings.

He also reflected on priesthood as a mission of service, explaining that priests are called to serve God’s people through prayer, teaching, and pastoral care, often leaving behind their homes for the sake of the Gospel.
Fr. Anselme expressed gratitude for his five years in ministry, describing his journey as a blessing.
Speaking on behalf of the parish, Vice Chairperson, Mr. Thomson Mbalule thanked God for Fr. Anselme’s life and service, describing the dual celebration as a special gift.

He commended the priest for his dedication to the parish, despite his responsibilities in other assignments, and encouraged him to continue serving faithfully.

The celebration continued with a presentation of gifts and a birthday song, from the Maula's Catholic Women Association.
The celebrations will continue on Sunday with another Thanksgiving Mass at 8:00 AM, followed by a gathering at Father's Residence Gardens for a luncheon at 1:00 PM.
