The Parish Priest of Our Lady of Africa Cathedral (Maula Parish), Fr. Francis Lekaleka, has challenged parishioners to seek total spiritual transformation throughout the 40 days of Lent.
Speaking during the Ash Wednesday Mass, Fr. Lekaleka announced a series of spiritual programs designed to strengthen the faith of the local community. To kickstart this journey, the parish has organized a General Parishioners' Retreat this Saturday, followed by specialized recollections and "Misulo" (orientations) for various church groups.
Fr. Lekaleka emphasized that spiritual strength is the foundation for all other aspects of Christian life. Regarding the parish's goals for the season, he stated:
"As we begin a journey of 40 days to Easter, it's our hope as parishioners of Our Lady of Africa Cathedral, Maula, that by the end of this journey we shall be transformed spiritually... Whatever we do, if we are strong in our spiritual lives, I think everything will go perfectly well. So, this is our target."
The Parish Priest added that while the traditional pillars of fasting, almsgiving, and prayer remain central, his administration will specifically focus on providing the tools—such as retreats and orientations—necessary to deepen the interior lives of the people of Maula.
