A Message of Gratitude and Unity: Fr. Anselme Bids Farewell to Maula Parish

The community of Our Lady of Africa Maula Parish and listeners of Radio Alinafe have officially bid a warm farewell to Fr. Anselme Adzakulai Tume Kofi of the Franciscan of Mary Congregation, as he prepares to transition to a new mission assignment.

Originally hailing from Togo, Fr. Anselme has spent the past months actively serving the Archdiocese of Lilongwe through pastoral work at Maula Parish and broadcast ministry at Radio Alinafe.

Reflecting on his time in Malawi, Fr. Anselme shared a heartfelt message of gratitude, spiritual encouragement, and a strong call for parish unity.

"I am Going, But I Am Not Leaving"

Speaking in both Chichewa and English, Fr. Anselme emphasized that while his physical location is changing, his bond with the Archdiocese of Lilongwe remains intact.

"I am called for a new mission. I’m going, but I’m not leaving. It means anytime I can come and visit, share my experience, and bring my knowledge to build the church journey here in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, and especially here at Our Lady of Africa Maula Parish," he said.

During his tenure, Fr. Anselme noted the vibrant spiritual life of the local community, describing the parish as a faith-filled assembly eager to grow deeper in their Catholic faith through continuous teaching and catechesis.

He praised the parishioners as faithful people of goodwill who demonstrate constructive faith and a willingness to collaborate.

Leaving the congregation with practical spiritual guidance, Fr. Anselme urged parishioners to remain steadfast in their daily devotion and sacramental life:

• Sacramental Commitment: Continue attending Mass on time, seeking the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and devoting time to Eucharistic Adoration.

  
  

• Charity: Active outreach through visiting the sick and supporting those in need.

  
  

• Spiritual Strength: "By doing this, your faith will be strong, and you’ll always remain under God’s protection," he reminded the faithful.

  
  

Highlighting the diversity of Maula Parish, Fr. Anselme delivered a passionate plea for unity, reminding everyone that language barriers should never divide the body of Christ.

"I call for unity. Be united. Whether you speak Chichewa or Chizungu, be united—because it is Christ who is inviting us to worship at Maula Parish," he stated, reinforcing the parish spirit of collaboration. "No one priest, no one thandizi (curate)—all of us are called to work together, like our motto: Tiyende limodzi."

The Maula Parish family and Radio Alinafe team extend their deepest gratitude to Fr. Anselme for his dedicated service, joyful spirit, and pastoral care.
