Archdiocesan Children’s Congress Held in Mchinji Deanery
The Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe successfully organized the Archdiocesan Children’s Congress from 21st to 23rd August 2026 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Gullime, Mchinji.
Held under the inspiring theme “Children Be With Christ, United in Mission”, the programme brought together children from across the Archdiocese for a faith-filled and educative experience.
The Congress aimed to deepen the children’s understanding of the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the importance of Eucharistic Adoration in spiritual growth. In addition, sessions were dedicated to:
Child Safeguarding talks to enlighten children on their fundamental rights.
Social virtues education, encouraging good moral conduct in daily life.
Recreational activities, fostering joy, unity, and friendship among participants.
It was particularly pleasing to note that Our Lady of Africa Maula Cathedral Parish was well represented. Both children and teachers from the parish actively participated, making the Congress a truly blissful and memorable experience.
The Archdiocesan Children’s Congress not only strengthened the children’s spiritual foundation but also emphasized their role in the Church’s mission. By combining catechesis, safeguarding awareness, and recreation, the programme nurtured holistic growth — ensuring that the young faithful remain united in Christ and prepared to live out their mission in society.
