The Holy Childhood Ministry (Tilitonse) at Maula Cathedral Parish has today, Saturday, 13th December 2025, formally launched its participation in the national 100-Day Tree Planting Campaign to promote environmental restoration at Maula Campus in the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe.
The activity is part of the nationwide Catholic initiative, which began on December 10, 2025, and calls on parishes, schools, and youth groups across the country to plant and care for thousands of trees.
This collective effort is a direct response to increasing concerns over deforestation and climate change.
The tree-planting drive is rooted in the Catholic Church’s teaching on the care for creation, inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’. The document reminds the faithful that:
“The earth, our common home, is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us.”
By planting seedlings, the Holy Childhood members are taking practical steps to live out their faith and answer the call to be good stewards of the environment.
